January 31, 2012, History

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum's current collection is all about the Civil War. Along with original documents written by the likes of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were some fascinating artifacts. The items belonging to soldiers were the most intriguing; everything from shaving gear and candles to a pocket size Oath of Allegiance.

When we left the Museum we took the SkyWay across the St. Johns River and then walked back across the Main Street Bridge, a lift bridge that goes up when boats need to go down river. A short walk to the bus stop, a short wait and we were on the P4, headed for home. Yummy Chinese food for dinner, a game of scrabble and it was time for bed. Tomorrow: Cassadaga.
